SWP are pleased to have completed this residential refurbishment of an old workshop and office building in Bexhill.
The original building dates back to the 1970`s and was a workshop at the ground floor with storage and offices over. The proposal by the client was to add an extra floor on the top and convert the building to residential. Some parking was also retained at ground floor level in the workshop area.
We had some historical drawings available and with some investigation we were able to check the existing structure and foundations and modify these to suit the extra load.
With some team value engineering, the original planning wall lines were tweaked slightly so that the wall lines were more consistent, reducing the amount of additional steelwork required.
The civil engineering required the rebuilding of the small retaining wall and linking in the new drawings into the existing systems close by, so nothing complex here for a change.
Overall, an interesting conversion project.
