About the project:

£7m. Contractor’s D&B negotiated on the success of the Innovation Centre on the same campus. Was originally down to be piled. SWP produced a cheaper solution of a raft foundation on vibro compacted ground. Steel frame utilising “Fabsec” beams of non standard bespoke sections fabricated specially for the project to produce shallow beams with thick 50mm flanges. All in order to minimise intrusion into performance areas. The second floor was also “hung” from the roof beams to give the uninterrupted performance space the client desired.
