SWP are pleased to be working on this interesting school project at Bedes.
The proposal was to demolish the old existing building and construct a new hall and two storey classroom building in the same location.
The site is relatively flat, close to the boundary with a number of mature trees. With the clay soil in this area, the foundations have needed to be reinforced and piled. The building itself will be steel framed, partly braced and partly sway frame, with concrete composite floors.
For the civil engineering, the foul water will connect into the existing extensive network to discharge and the surface water will be collected on a blue roof and attenuation tanks before it discharges to the existing network and the pond. Some local site SUDs features have been added with opening up of an existing culvert to create an open water course. Exceedance water flows will follow the original direction along the boundary location.
With stage 4 structural and civil engineering design and drawing work completed, we are awaiting a site start date.
