SWP are pleased to be working with Pentland Homes on a site in Kent for 8 bespoke houses.

These are Kent barn type in appearance with a variety of internal layouts, plot sizes and roof variants with full height glazing and vaulted ceilings.

Although traditionally constructed, each plot was different with many complex junctions and details particularly at roof and eaves level.

The ground conditions were very poor on this site with remediation for historic contamination, deep excavation pits refilled and soft soils up to 7m deep. Piling to approximately 17m deep was the only option here and reinforced ground beams were RC detailed.

We did not do the civil engineering work on this site, however this included large gardens with many SUDs features provided.

A relatively small size with each building having its own character, attention to detail was certainly required, with deep foundations to get below the reworked ground to find quality strata.
