SWP are pleased to be working with Bishop & Levitt on a great historic Victorian building on Portland Road, in Hove. Historically this was built circa 1890`s as a Police Force convalescent home, for approximately 50 recovering police officers, mainly from London.

The building saw action during the world wars as a hospital and troop convalescent home. It remained in the service of the Police Force until the 1960`s when it was released and became a home for the elderly, then in more recent years became Middleton Grove, residential nursing home.

A significant refurbishment is proposed and the design stages are underway. New access ramps and two new external stair cores, internal room remodelling and significant wall removal at lower floor levels to create open communal spaces.

Temporary works requirements were needed to be carefully considered to ensure that works are carried out safely and avoid excessive movement or deflections in the existing structure above.
