SWP are delighted to be working with River Oak Homes on this interesting project in Lewes.

The site is located close to the river Ouse and South Downs Road and comprises of a number of residential housing plots and apartment blocks. SWP are primarily involved with the reinforced concrete apartment buildings.

The site itself was a former land fill, hence precautions have had to be taken with the ground conditions and gas protection and venting. Also, the levels of the site have required raised building level and ground levels, creating retaining structures being required for road and boundary treatment.

The superstructure of the apartments is reinforced concrete flat slab and transfer slabs over parking areas. The foundations are deep piled to reach the better quality substrata below. Retaining walls varied using piled reinforced concrete up to 4m high and interlocking blocks and reinforced earth for the lower height walls.

The existing main open drainage ditch and culvert to the East has had to be rerouted to suit the building and new road location and an OWC was agreed with the Local Authority SUD`s team.
The East block is on site now and up to first floor level, while the other blocks are being design developed with ECE Architects and Accel project managers.
